A resident of Uralsk has recovered 4 million tenge in moral damages from a hospital. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
He claimed that his father died due to doctors' negligence and immediately filed a complaint with the police. However, the investigation was terminated due to the absence of criminal offense elements.
Later, an inspection by the territorial department of the Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control revealed violations in the provision of medical care to the patient. Subsequently, the resident filed a lawsuit.
According to court materials, a 58-year-old man sought medical help several times. However, doctors refused to examine him, citing his intoxication. No test for alcohol content in the deceased's body was conducted, the Supreme Court's statement said.
Only after contacting the healthcare department's call center was he hospitalized in the therapy department with a diagnosis of ischemic stroke. However, due to delayed treatment, the man died the next day.
During the court session, the prosecutor requested partial satisfaction of the claim. The hospital representative did not fully acknowledge the claim. By court decision, the claim was partially satisfied, and 4 million tenge was recovered from the hospital in favor of the plaintiff as compensation for moral damages.
