In the first six months of 2026, more than 2.3 million Kazakhstanis underwent cancer screening. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan provides three types of free cancer screening aimed at early detection of breast cancer, cervical cancer, and colorectal cancer among target groups. In the first half of 2026, 2,362,568 people were examined.
According to screening results, the following were confirmed: - 1,238 cases of breast cancer; - 372 cases of colorectal cancer; - 227 cases of cervical cancer.
According to the ministry, if suspicious changes are detected during screening, this does not mean the person has cancer. The patient is referred for additional diagnostic examination. Only after a full examination do doctors confirm or rule out the disease.
"Regular check-ups allow detecting dangerous changes at an early stage. In 2021–2025, the share of oncological diseases detected at stages III–IV in Kazakhstan decreased from 34.9% to 32%," experts say.
It is worth noting that over the past five years, more than 14 million people have undergone cancer screening, and the annual population coverage rate has increased by 13.5%.
