Growth in PET/CT studies
According to the Ministry of Health, in the first six months of this year alone, 17.4 thousand PET/CT studies were conducted, which is 21.6% more compared to the same period last year.
Immunohistochemical studies
In addition, the number of immunohistochemical studies increased from 33.6 thousand in 2024 to 65.1 thousand in 2025. These studies allow determining tumor characteristics and selecting more precise treatment tactics.
Proton and radiation therapy
Also, since the beginning of the year, over 3.8 thousand proton therapy sessions and more than 9.2 thousand radiation therapy sessions have been conducted in the republic.
Development of oncology service infrastructure
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that by the end of the year, the development of oncology service infrastructure is planned. In particular, the launch of the first reference centers for high-precision diagnostics, a new PET/CT center in the Karaganda region, and additional equipment for regional medical organizations are planned.
It is noted that the main task facing the department is to shorten the path from disease detection, diagnosis, and treatment prescription.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that a modern oncology center will be built in Almaty. The new medical facility is planned to be equipped with a modern operating block with robotics, a molecular genetic laboratory, and an automated drug preparation system.
