Rescue teams are searching for a missing baby after the bodies of a mother and her toddler were found off the coast of South Australia. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing The Guardian.
Emergency services were called to the state's southernmost coastal town, Port Macdonnell, at about 11.15am on Monday after a car was found with its engine running. Officers launched a search and found two bodies in the ocean a short time later.
They have been identified as a 36-year-old woman from Compton, near Mount Gambier, and her toddler. Crews are searching for a missing infant. "Police have grave concerns for the child's safety," a South Australia police spokesperson said.
Detectives and forensic specialists are travelling to the scene. Police are urging anyone who may have seen a white Isuzu MUX, registration S592BJR, to contact Crime Stoppers.
