South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has said that the conflict in Ukraine must be resolved through negotiations. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Ramaphosa made the statement in an interview with RIA Novosti. He recalled that South Africa, together with several other African countries, took part in a peace mission regarding Russia and Ukraine.
"If you remember, South Africa, together with several other African countries, participated in a peace mission regarding Russia and Ukraine. Our main position is to resolve the conflict through negotiations and achieve a peaceful settlement," Ramaphosa said.
In addition, the South African president said he was impressed by Russian President Vladimir Putin's readiness to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
"I was strongly impressed by President Putin's readiness to resolve this conflict," Ramaphosa said.
According to him, Putin told him about various processes underway to achieve peace and resolve the conflict.
The South African president also said that the conflict in Ukraine directly affects life in South Africa.
