A new vehicle type approval (OTTS) for the Omoda C5 and C5 Plus has appeared in Kazakhstan. As Kursiv Auto found out, this is a crossover that differs noticeably from the familiar C5. It appears Astana Motors is preparing another version of the popular model for launch and localization. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

How it differs from the C5

The current Omoda C5 seen on Kazakh roads looks familiar: a coupe-like body, a distinctive front end and fairly compact dimensions. The new C5 Plus has a different appearance and is perceived as a fresher model.

Technical specifications

According to the fresh OTTS, the vehicle's length is 4545 mm, width – 1824 mm, height – 1588 mm, and wheelbase – 2630 mm. Under the hood is a 1.5-liter TCI turbo engine with 108 kW of power and 210 Nm of torque, working with front-wheel drive.

At the same time, the official website of OMODA & JAECOO Kazakhstan has already added the C5 PLUS to its model range with the status "Coming soon".

Interior equipment

The interior also differs noticeably from the current C5. The new vehicle features a 15.6-inch central screen with 2K resolution, an 8.88-inch digital instrument panel and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 platform. It also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 50 W wireless charging in the top version and a 540-degree surround view system.

The Omoda C5 Plus received a 6-speed dual-clutch robot, ECO and SPORT modes, as well as a set of electronic assistants. Depending on the trim, 17- or 18-inch wheels, four or six airbags, front seat ventilation and dual-zone climate control will be available.

Dynamics and fuel consumption

According to official data, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 9.9 seconds, top speed is 180 km/h, and the stated consumption is 7.3 liters per 100 km.

Sales launch and production

There is no exact sales start date yet, but the appearance of the C5 PLUS in the new Kazakh OTTS indicates the model is being prepared for the local market.

Moreover, the manufacturer and applicant in the documents is Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan, which indicates the model will be produced at the multi-brand plant in Almaty.
