The creator of Almaty's most famous film club, Oleg Boretsky, will host a concert at the Zhambyl State Philharmonic called "Symphony of Cinema." This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Kursiv LifeStyle learned how cinema and symphonic music — two art forms — will be combined on November 7 and 8.
Performers and organizers
The works will be performed by the Abdrashev State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Its chief conductor, Kanat Omarov, together with film scholar Oleg Boretsky, selected great music by classical composers that is heard in great films.
"The uniqueness of this evening lies in the fact that it will sound in a live performance by a symphony orchestra, and this already implies the theatricality of the process itself, and combined with the frame it will create a unique synthesis," said Kanat Omarov, chief conductor of the orchestra.
Program
Audiences will hear works by Bach, Wagner, Mahler, Strauss and Handel that have entered the musical world of films by outstanding directors. Among the names associated with the evening's program are Luchino Visconti, Francis Ford Coppola, Stanley Kubrick and Andrei Tarkovsky.
"Such an opportunity to see masterpieces of cinema and hear great classics organically in this single space, and I say again to hear a real organ, this is a completely interesting and deep step forward! I am sure that this orchestra will delight the audience and will certainly become an event," said Oleg Boretsky, host of the project, film scholar.
