According to system operator KEGOC, at 05:02 the power system of Uzbekistan lost 1,516 megawatts of generation. The failure triggered a sharp power surge from the Unified Power System of Central Asia. As a result, an unforeseen separation of the North–South transit occurred.
Temporary restrictions for consumers
The failure led to temporary restrictions for Kazakh consumers. The total volume of disconnected load in the republic's power system amounted to 962 megawatts. The company stressed that emergency automation operated in standard mode.
Situation stabilized
Specialists managed to promptly stabilize the situation. At 05:43, parallel operation of the Southern zone of Kazakhstan's power system and the Unified Power System of Central Asia was fully restored. The operator gave the command to lift all restrictions for consumers.
