Uzbekistan lost 1-3 to DR Congo in the final Group K match of the 2026 World Cup. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The match took place on June 28 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Uzbekistan started well and opened the scoring in the 10th minute through captain Eldor Shomurodov. However, Fabio Cannavaro's team could not hold the lead.

After the break, DR Congo completely turned the game around. In the 68th minute, Yoane Wissa converted a penalty to equalize. Ten minutes later, Ibrahim Mayele put the African side ahead, and in stoppage time, Wissa scored his second to make it 3-1.

This was Uzbekistan's third defeat in the tournament. The team made its World Cup debut but finished the group stage without any points. In three matches, Uzbekistan scored two goals and conceded 11.

In the parallel Group K match, Colombia and Portugal played out a 0-0 draw. This result allowed Colombia to top the group with seven points. Portugal finished second with five points, while DR Congo ended third with four points.

Colombia will face Ghana, who advanced from Group L as the third-placed team, in the Round of 32. Portugal will meet Croatia, who finished second in Group L.

DR Congo also advanced to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams. Their opponent in the Round of 32 is England, the winner of Group L.
