According to the department, the tragedy occurred on July 17. A passenger car, driven by a minor according to preliminary data, crashed into an obstacle and overturned, after which the car caught fire. Two young passengers died at the scene, the driver was hospitalized.

"A pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the traffic accident under Part 4 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the prosecutor's office reported.

The department reminded of criminal liability for transferring car keys to minors and other persons who do not have the right to drive a vehicle.
