A minor lost his arm while working at a building materials production enterprise in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The teenager worked unofficially. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing YK-news.kz.

The information about the incident was confirmed by Bakytbek Kizatov, head of the Department of the State Labor Inspection Committee for the East Kazakhstan region. According to preliminary data, no employment contract was concluded with the teenager, and no safety briefing was conducted.

"Currently, a commission has been created, and an investigation into the incident is underway. Based on the results of the investigation, we will inform you," Kizatov said at a briefing.

The Police Department of the East Kazakhstan region has also initiated a pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Article 156 of the Criminal Code - violation of labor protection rules.

According to the labor inspection, the level of industrial injuries in the region has slightly increased. In the first half of last year, 45 incidents were registered, and in the same period of 2026 - 55.

The most injured were recorded in Ust-Kamenogorsk. They are followed by Shemonaikha, Ridder, and Altai.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that a resident of Kostanay lost several fingers while working as a miller without an employment contract. The employer denied the existence of labor relations, but the court recognized that the man worked at the enterprise from February 1 to March 31, 2026, and ordered the company to pay 3 million tenge in compensation for moral damage. The court decision has not yet entered into legal force.
