In the East Kazakhstan region, police detained a 49-year-old resident of Ust-Kamenogorsk suspected of drug trafficking. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Polisia.kz.
According to police, the illegal drug trade was suppressed in the region and a large batch of marijuana was seized. The operation was conducted as part of the operational-preventive measure "Karasora — 2026".
Police received information about possible illegal drug sales. Under the control of operatives, correspondence with the alleged dealer was organized, during which the parties agreed on the purchase of drugs.
The suspect was caught red-handed while handing over the prohibited substance.
During a search and inspection of the man's residence, police discovered several large batches of narcotic drugs. According to law enforcement, the drugs were packaged in plastic bags and prepared for further sale.
According to the expert examination, the seized substance is marijuana. The total weight of the drug exceeded 2.8 kg.
Additionally, police officers seized more than 1 million tenge in cash.
A pre-trial investigation is underway. The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
Police reminded that illegal drug trafficking poses a serious threat to society and entails criminal liability under the legislation of Kazakhstan.
Earlier, "Kursiv" reported that in the Akmola region, police seized synthetic drugs worth 30 million tenge.
