Fire and medical officials have issued warnings about a supplement offered to Western wildland firefighters exposed to toxic smoke from major blazes. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
The supplement glutathione, given intravenously or via a nebulizer, has not been proven safe or effective and could pose health risks if contaminated during production, experts say.
At least two pharmacies recalled the supplement in August due to bacterial contamination found during testing.
