Former President Barack Obama opened his presidential center in Chicago to the general public on Juneteenth. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.

The center's dedication ceremony took place on June 18, featuring music legends and superstar acts including Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Bono, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony, and Eddie Vedder.

The event was attended by three former presidents, world leaders, A-list celebrities, athletes, and other internationally known figures.

On June 19, Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama greeted community members in the Hope and Change lobby before walking through the museum at the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago's Jackson Park.

Juneteenth celebrations took place across the US. In Los Angeles' Leimert Park neighborhood, drummers performed and the SHINE Muwasi women's African drum circle performed. In Putney, Vermont, 10-year-old Lena Quintal, a rising sixth-grader, shoveled rocks into a wheelbarrow with other students as part of the school's Community Schools Initiative on Juneteenth.
