The first court hearing in the murder case of 21-year-old Nurhai Serikbai has been scheduled in Shymkent. The preliminary hearing will take place on July 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the specialized inter-district criminal court. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
This was announced by the victim's lawyer, Ayanhan Omarov. Together with him, lawyer Mukhammedzhan Akhmetov will defend the family's interests.
During the preliminary hearing, the court will determine whether the case is ready for trial on its merits. The order of examining evidence and the question of whether the trial will be held with a jury will also be decided.
Recall that the tragedy occurred on the evening of January 11, 2026, in Shymkent. 21-year-old student Nurhai Serikbai died from multiple stab wounds. The brutal murder is suspected to have been committed by 28-year-old Sherkhan Aymakhan, who was acquainted with the girl. After the attack, he fled but was detained by police on January 13, 10 km from Shymkent.
During the pre-trial investigation, the suspect was sent for compulsory treatment to a specialized institution.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the criminal case of the brutal murder of 21-year-old Nurhai Serikbai was sent to the Shymkent court. The victim's side intends to insist on maximum publicity of the hearings.
