In a Shymkent court, the initial testimony of defendant Sherkhan Aymakhan in the murder case of 21-year-old Nurai Serikbay was read out. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Presiding judge Sammidin Temirlaev read the case materials, according to which on the day of the crime Aymakhan called the girl to a meeting, and after she refused to take a walk, he struck her with a 25 cm knife.
Then the accused left for the Turkestan region, where, according to the interrogation protocol, he attempted suicide:
"You claimed that you got into the car and with the same knife you stabbed her (Nurai - ed.) you tried to kill yourself. You slightly plunged the knife into yourself, but allegedly lacked determination. Then you threw away your phone, took knives and walked on... And yesterday you said you don't remember anything. How do you explain that?" the judge asked.
In response, Aymakhan stated that these details were "invented and written down by the investigator" for him. However, the judge objected, reminding that the document bears the signature of the defendant's lawyer, which could not be forged. In turn, the accused refused to admit his earlier testimony, insisting only on the version of "memory loss."
21-year-old Nurai was killed on January 11, 2026, in Shymkent. According to the investigation, the defendant ambushed the girl near a store and inflicted fatal knife wounds, after which he fled. He was detained 10 km from the city.
Earlier, a witness to the murder gave testimony in court, and the victim's brother spoke about the accused's attempts to kidnap the girl.
