Kazakh weightlifter Nurzhan Zhumabay won the junior world championship in Colombia. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
He competed in the under-88 kg category. According to the National Olympic Committee, Zhumabay lifted a total of 348 kg (155+193) in the combined event. He also set a world record in the clean and jerk.
Silver medalist was Eric Guadamud (Spain) with 344 kg (156+188). Jose Mantilla (Mexico) took bronze with 335 kg (151+184).
