More than a thousand students in the village of Nura, Talgar district, Almaty region, still cannot access a new school. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Promises every year
For four years, students have been studying in the buildings of the akimat, a cultural center, and a store. In the first year, primary school students attended a school in the village of Toganbay. However, after two teachers were involved in a road accident, parents objected and stopped sending their children to that school.
Then a store owned by an entrepreneur was taken over and used as a school. According to residents, for four years they have complained about the school issue. Every year they promise that "a new school will open," but it does not open.
"We won't go to the first bell"
Residents of Nura do not believe that this year's first bell will ring in a new school. According to them, it has been very hard for the children: they study sometimes in one school, sometimes in another, and catch colds. The quality of education has declined, and their grades have worsened.
"If it doesn't open, we won't send our children to the first bell. Let them open the school," say the residents of Nura.
According to them, there is still a lot of work to be done on the school, which has been under renovation for four years. A Sputnik Kazakhstan correspondent visited the long-awaited new school to see its current condition.
