McLaren's Lando Norris ended an eight-month wait for a Formula 1 victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, while championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished third. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
Norris started from pole but ran wide at the second corner, losing the lead to teammate Oscar Piastri. However, Piastri was delayed by a collision with Williams driver Carlos Sainz Jr. while lapping, allowing Norris to come out of the pits ahead. He cruised to the win.
"The car was incredible, I felt like I was flying," Norris said. It was his first win of 2026 and the fifth of his career.
Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished third, extending his championship lead to 34 points over Norris.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was fourth, while Red Bull's Max Verstappen finished fifth. Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez was seventh.
The race was held at the Hungaroring in Hungary. The next round is the Belgian Grand Prix on August 2.
