In the 2002 film 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets', this role was played by Kenneth Branagh. Now the image of the narcissistic Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher will go to Hoult.
For the actor, this is another major franchise. He previously played Beast in the 'X-Men' film series and currently plays Lex Luthor in DC Studios projects. Specifically, Hoult appeared in 'Superman' in 2025 and is expected to return in the sequel 'Man of Tomorrow', scheduled for 2027.
The premiere of the first season of the new 'Harry Potter' on HBO and HBO Max is scheduled for December 25. The first season adapts 'Philosopher's Stone', and the second has already been renewed and will tell the story of the 'Chamber of Secrets'.
