The work on recovering funds from NCOC in favor of the state continues. Some media outlets reported that enforcement proceedings to recover money from NCOC in favor of the state were suspended. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The Ministry of Justice commented on this information. According to the ministry, due to NCOC's appeal against the actions of the state bailiff, the court of Atyrau region has requested materials of the enforcement proceedings.
According to the law, if the court requests enforcement proceedings, they are suspended until the court returns them. Thus, the work on recovering funds from NCOC in favor of the state continues in accordance with the established procedure.
It should be noted that the environmental fine was imposed for violation of sulfur storage requirements and had to be paid voluntarily by July 20. The legality of the fine was confirmed by the courts of Kazakhstan.
NCOC is a consortium that includes major oil and gas companies such as KazMunayGas, American Exxon Mobil, as well as Western Eni, Shell and TotalEnergies.
