Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said in an interview with Izvestia that the West is preparing for a conflict with Moscow by 2030. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

"We have an assumption that NATO and EU countries are indeed preparing for a military conflict with Russia by 2030," he said. The diplomat noted that the main goal of the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance is the strategic defeat of Moscow.

Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov wrote in his article "Ukraine, Europe and Global Security" that Europe wants to drag out time to achieve "combat readiness" in a conflict with Russia by 2030. Lavrov added that the international situation creates a threat of a direct conflict between NATO and Moscow, which could quickly escalate into a nuclear exchange.
