NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said he continues to discuss with NATO allies further supplies of air defense to Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"I am continuing to discuss with my allies how to continue providing Ukraine with the necessary air defense systems," Rutte wrote on social media X after a phone conversation with Vladimir Zelensky.
The NATO chief made the statement as discussions continue on further Western military support for Kyiv.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump rejected Zelensky's request to provide Kyiv with additional interceptor missiles for the Patriot system. According to media reports, the president explained his decision by the shortage of missiles in the US and their costs during military operations in the Middle East.
Moscow has repeatedly stated that Western arms supplies to Ukraine cannot change the course of the conflict, but only prolong it and hinder reaching a political and diplomatic settlement.
