Naomi Osaka's Wimbledon run ended with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 loss to Karolina Muchova in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
The 28-year-old Japanese former world No. 1 had defeated top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka in the fourth round but couldn't find her rhythm against the Czech opponent.
"It's hard because I didn't feel great. My feet hurt, I'm getting old," Osaka said in her post-match press conference. She also mentioned that plantar fasciitis was bothering her.
Osaka had also impressed with her fashionable outfits at Wimbledon, wearing various designer dresses. However, her on-court performance fell short.
"I work a lot, but today nothing worked. Muchova played very well, she deserved the win," Osaka added.
Karolina Muchova will face another tournament favorite in the semifinals. Osaka, despite the loss, said she will prepare for future events.
"I'll go home, rest, and then start training again. This is not my last Wimbledon," she concluded.
