Journalist and music critic Sergei Sosedov has died at the age of 58. His death was reported by TV presenter Vadim Takmenev. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to Mash, Sergei Sosedov fell down a staircase on his way to breakfast in Neryungri (Russia), hit his head and died from his injuries. The critic's relatives told the outlet that a detached blood clot could have caused the fall.

According to them, Sosedov had heart problems; they also suggest that thrombosis could be linked to a long flight to Yakutia. There is no official confirmation of this version yet.

RIA Novosti cites a different version of the circumstances of Sergei Sosedov's death. A source close to the critic did not confirm reports that Sosedov had complained of feeling unwell and fell due to a detached blood clot.

"Everything was fine. He did not complain about anything. This is an accident, he slipped on the stairs," a source told RIA Novosti.

Sergei Sosedov's mother Antonina told Super that she learned of her son's death from a producer who called from Yakutia. The 90-year-old woman admitted that she still cannot recover from the shock.

"He was going down the stairs in the hotel, fell, injured his head. They called an ambulance, he died during surgery, what a horror. No, they haven't brought him yet. no one believes it, it can't be like this. I don't think it's a fabrication, I just can't. he was fine, generally fine, I told him, why are you going so far, well work, there is work. what will I do, oh Lord. How does all this happen," Antonina said.

According to her, before the trip Sosedov felt fine. She asked her son why he was flying so far, but he replied that he was going for work.

Sosedov became famous in the 1990s thanks to the music talk show "Akuly pera" (Sharks of the Pen), where he appeared as a critic. Later he judged participants on "X-Factor" and the show "Superstar! Return," and also hosted the program "Za granyu" (Beyond the Line) on NTV. He was known for his harsh assessments of artists' performances and his manner of openly expressing his opinion.
