Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported how police ensured the safety of children and public order during Knowledge Day events across the country on September 1. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Police officers and heads of territorial divisions were assigned to each educational institution. Patrol units were brought closer to the venues of school events.
Preventive Work
Special attention was paid to prevention. At the school assemblies, students were reminded of the rules of safe behavior, traffic rules, and responsibility for offenses. In total, MIA employees conducted over 7,000 lectures and thematic talks.
Special coloring books on traffic rules were prepared for primary school students. Young traffic inspectors and students of "Zhas Sakshy" classes were also involved in preventive work.
"Zhas Sakshy" Classes
Currently, 264 "Zhas Sakshy" classes operate in 238 schools in Kazakhstan, with more than 5,300 students. Another ten such classes opened on September 1 in Astana, Shymkent, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Mangystau regions, and Zhetysu region.
"Zhas Sakshy" students, together with police officers, conduct preventive activities among their peers and participate in efforts to form safe and law-abiding behavior.
The MIA stated that they will continue their work to ensure the safety of children in schools and beyond.
School Inspections
Earlier, Kursiv reported that before the start of the school year, the MIA checked the safety of schools and road infrastructure near them. In 7,656 schools across the country, more than 283,000 video surveillance cameras are installed, with 7,159 schools connected to operational management centers or police duty units.
In addition, the MIA conducted 9,400 inspections of roads near educational institutions. As a result, 258 pedestrian crossings were equipped, 1,429 speed bumps and 4,854 road signs were installed, as well as more than 10 km of fences and 1,897 lighting facilities.
