An assessment of the technical condition of the tanker that was attacked by a drone at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) marine terminal is underway. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy, the incident occurred on the night of July 19-20. The attack caused a fire on the tanker "NELSA," but the emergency was quickly brought under control. There were no casualties.
"Currently, an assessment of the technical condition of the vessel and the consequences of the incident is being carried out," the Ministry of Energy said in a statement. The ministry noted that it is in constant contact with the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. The situation is under control.
The CPC is one of the main routes for exporting Kazakhstan's oil. About 80% of the country's oil is transported through the consortium's pipeline.
