Publications promising special mortgage terms for teachers, medical workers and civil servants are circulating in Kazakhstan. Such ads are often placed by companies selling loan application consultations. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Center for Combating Disinformation, the advertising may create the impression that a separate state housing program has appeared for representatives of each profession. However, it often refers to the same mortgage offers available to people of various professions.
Companies tailor their advertising to a specific audience. Teachers are offered “Mortgage for Educators,” medical workers — “Housing for Doctors,” and civil servants — “Special Program for Civil Servants.”
“This approach helps attract the attention of potential clients. A person sees a familiar profession in the headline and may decide that a new program has appeared specifically for them,” the center explained.
At the same time, the division by profession is used primarily to promote commercial services and does not necessarily mean that separate state programs exist.
According to the center, such headlines create false expectations. People spend time searching for non-existent special offers and turn to paid consultations, believing that obtaining a mortgage without an intermediary is impossible.
The center urged people to pay attention to the presence of links to official program terms, demands to pay for access to details, and promises of guaranteed loan approval.
“If an advertising publication does not contain links to official terms, offers to obtain details only after payment, or promises guaranteed loan approval, the accuracy of the information should be additionally verified,” the center warned.
Kazakhstanis were urged to check information about mortgage programs using official sources and not to make financial decisions solely on the basis of social media publications.
