Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law on changes to the status of teachers. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The law provides maximum protection for the status of teachers. The changes relieve teachers of excessive workload and ensure professional freedom.
Key amendments
- 01Defining teachers' responsibility to students only during the educational process;
- 02Prohibition of "digital bureaucracy" where paper and electronic formats are duplicated;
- 03Expanding parents' responsibility for the child's life, health and safety.
In this regard, the law clearly states that education and upbringing are a common task not only of the school, but also of the family and the state.
Support for talented specialists
Measures to support talented specialists are also provided. In particular, winners of international professional skills competitions can enter universities on a grant without competition.
Admission requirements
Requirements for admission and transfer of students in pedagogical and medical specialties are also being tightened.
Use of mobile devices
Uniform rules for the use of mobile devices in educational organizations have been approved. This will help focus students' attention on learning and prevent cyberbullying. It is worth noting that currently each school independently sets the procedure for using smartphones. According to the law, the ban applies only during lessons, and during breaks students can use phones. If the phone is necessary for the educational process, use is permitted by the teacher's decision.
