State Duma deputy Tatiana Moskalkova, in an interview with RIA Novosti, stated that Russia is currently going through a special historical period. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

She commented on President Vladimir Putin's remarks at a meeting of the Council on Interethnic Relations held on Tuesday. Putin noted that external forces are constantly trying to split Russian society and dismember Russia in order to eliminate competition in the international arena.

According to Moskalkova, attempts by Western countries and those who do not support the strengthening of Russian statehood to divide society are made regularly. However, the deputy noted that the state strategy in the field of national policy serves as a shield for preserving unity and respect for all peoples.

"Our enemies have no opportunity to implement their plans and divide our peoples," Moskalkova said.

She also emphasized that at present, uniting people around basic moral values – life, family and historical roots – is of particular importance. The deputy noted that Russia is defending its independence, sovereignty, truth and justice.

Touching upon the special military operation, Moskalkova stated that today the price of victory is very high, but there was no other way. She recalled that repeated warnings about the right of Donbass residents to speak their native language, preserve and honor historical memory, unfortunately, were not heard.

"The start of the special military operation was aimed at protecting those who asked for help against the aggression that began in 2014," the deputy said.

Thus, Moskalkova once again emphasized the need to strengthen the multinational unity of the peoples of Russia.
