Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the BRICS summit that the issue of reforming the UN Security Council cannot be delayed any further. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"Reform of the UN Security Council can no longer be delayed. During negotiations on this issue, it is necessary to set a clear timetable and strive for concrete results," Modi said.
The head of the Indian government, during the BRICS summit, called on his partners to send a clear signal about the need to work in a spirit of partnership.
"It is very important to form the right foundation for this cooperation. We must work in a spirit of partnership," the prime minister said.
In addition, Modi called for ensuring continuity in the work of BRICS.
BRICS is an interstate association founded in 2006 by Russia, China, India and Brazil. In 2011, the Republic of South Africa joined it, and since the beginning of 2024, several more countries have joined its ranks.
Currently, the association accounts for about 40% of global gross domestic product and nearly half of the world's population.
