The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection is changing its approaches to working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The National Center for Social Protection is already creating a practical guide for social workers. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Purpose of the new tool
It is noted that the new tool will help specialists find an individual approach to each child with autism.
"It will present clear algorithms and recommendations that allow work to be built consistently, taking into account the specific situation and the family's request," the statement says.
What social workers will do
The guide will describe how a social worker should build communication with a family from scratch: from the first conversation and understanding of the main problems to drawing up a joint action plan. It will also explain how to involve doctors and teachers in the assistance, and then assess how much this support actually helped the child and their loved ones.
At the same time, all the work of social workers will be built only on the principle of interaction with the child's family, since only close ones know the needs of their child better than anyone else.
What exactly will be written in the document is not yet known
What exactly will be written in the document is not yet known. The Ministry of Labor emphasizes that the practice of interaction between social workers and families raising children with ASD is still being studied.
The ministry noted that ASD is a developmental feature in which a child communicates, behaves and perceives the world differently. No two cases are the same. Each child has their own talents, difficulties and needs. That is why social workers cannot act according to a template, but need to select assistance individually for each family.
Results of the WHO review
Earlier, the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control shared the results of a WHO review over the past 15 years. In particular, a meta-analysis showed that vaccinations do not increase the risk of developing ASD.
