A meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (EIC) is underway in Minsk. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
It is attended by the heads of government of Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan. The Prime Minister of Armenia joined the meeting via video conference.
The agenda includes 15 issues related to the development of integration within the Eurasian Economic Union.
Before the expanded part of the meeting began, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko received the heads of government of the EAEU countries. He said he agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin's words that a turning point has begun in the development of world civilization.
"The Russian president said absolutely correctly yesterday. We are at such a turning point in the history of the development of world civilization. We ourselves do not even fully understand today where we are and how important this change in the history of civilization is," Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian leader noted that although he sometimes openly criticizes US President Donald Trump, he calls himself a "Trumpist."
"I, as I often say, am a Trumpist. I supported Trump, and I am sure that most of you also supported him in the election. During negotiations with the Americans, I state my position to them directly," the Belarusian president said.
According to him, he thanks the US president "for exposing the policy of the West, primarily the United States." At the same time, Lukashenko noted that there is "instability" in the actions of his American counterpart.
"In the morning he says one thing, in the evening another," he said.
In addition, Alexander Lukashenko told the prime ministers of the EAEU countries that Minsk will never betray common interests.
"You can always trust us. We will never betray our common interests. Whatever difficulties there are, we will solve our common issues," he noted.
The Belarusian president said that if Minsk can provide any assistance to its EAEU partners, it will certainly do so.
