The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan has assured that information about the hacking of eGov and the leak of data of 15 million Kazakhstani citizens is not true. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The ministry, together with authorized bodies, conducted a technical check. No hacking of eGov information systems was detected.
"Moreover, we managed to gain access to the files that were put up for sale on the darknet. Their analysis showed that this is a set of various files and images and is not an upload from eGov. There are other facts that confirm this. The declared volume and content of the array contradict each other," the ministry noted.
In addition, the eGov systems do not contain a database of passport scans in the form presented by the author of the announcement. Digital documents are formed and stored in a completely different way.
"Therefore, we officially declare once again - there was no eGov hack. Information about obtaining data of 15 million citizens of Kazakhstan from its systems is not true.
We would also like to address representatives of the media and information resources.
An anonymous announcement on the darknet in itself is not proof of a hack or leak.
When it comes to the personal data of millions of citizens, it is especially important to first verify the information," the ministry said.
