The Center for Countering False Information has urged the public not to believe information circulating online that «a million apartments will be given away for free.» This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Specialists at the center found that false information about a million apartments is being published systematically. To convince the public, they use real video footage from speeches by high-ranking officials.
«Such information injections are regularly spread ahead of and during important socio-political events. These include referendums and elections, the formation of the Government, state and commemorative dates, as well as other significant events that generate high public interest,» specialists say.
When such messages are spread, one should first turn to the primary source containing the full video recording of the speech, rather than to separate edited fragments.
It is worth noting that the Center for Countering False Information is subordinate to the Central Communications Service under the President.
