Kazakhstani figure skater Mikhail Shaidorov has soared to second place in the updated world rankings of the International Skating Union (ISU). This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
He has 4193 points. Previously, Shaidorov's best result was third position, so second place became a new personal record for the athlete.
The top spot in the ranking was retained by American figure skater Ilia Malinin. He has 4590 points. Japanese skater Yuma Kagiyama dropped to third place with 4123 points.
Shaidorov moved to second position after a bronze-medal performance at the international ISU Challenger series tournament Memorial Ondrej Nepela in Bratislava.
As media report, this historic achievement became a personal record for the athlete and the best result in the history of men's singles skating in Kazakhstan. Previously, the record belonged to Denis Ten, who held third place.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that figure skater Shaidorov returned to the ice with a new record. The tournament was the first international competition for the Kazakhstani in the 2026/2027 season.
The Olympic champion scored 272.75 points and won a bronze medal. Above him were Russian Evgeni Semenenko and Italian Daniel Grassl.
