The last-place New York Mets have agreed to trade starting pitcher Freddy Peralta to the Tampa Bay Rays for three minor leaguers, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
The terms of the deal have not been announced, but the AP source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the Mets agreed to send Peralta to the Rays. Peralta has started 22 games for the Mets this season, going 4-7 with a 4.32 ERA.
The 29-year-old right-hander came to the Mets in 2024 from the Milwaukee Brewers. In his first season with the Mets, he posted a 3.98 ERA and helped the team reach the playoffs.
The Rays will add Peralta to their rotation, as they currently sit in third place in the American League East. Peralta's contract expires after this season, so the Rays view him as a short-term reinforcement.
