The Metropolitan Opera in New York held auditions for a snake to appear in an adaptation of Mozart's 'Così fan tutte'. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
The auditions took place on August 28, 2026. Several snakes participated in the selection, and ultimately the role was given to a boa constrictor named Princess.
Animal talent expert Nancy Novograd and performance artist Zoe Ziegfeld, who will play the snake charmer, were involved in the auditions. Ziegfeld handled the snakes to assess their behavior.
Associated Press photographer Andres Kudacki captured the audition moments in several photos. The images show Ziegfeld and Novograd interacting with the snakes.
The Metropolitan Opera plans to present the production in the upcoming season. The snake's participation is expected to add a unique touch to the performance.
