Meta to Sue Israeli Spyware Developer NSO Group

Meta announced its intention to sue Israeli group NSO and prevented phishing attacks. This was stated by official representatives of the company. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Reuters.

The NSO group is known worldwide as the developer of the Pegasus spyware. Meta plans to file a lawsuit, claiming that NSO illegally accessed users' devices through the WhatsApp platform.

According to Meta representatives, the company detected and prevented NSO phishing attacks aimed at stealing personal data of WhatsApp users.

This is not the first lawsuit Meta has filed against NSO. In 2019, Meta already sued NSO for attacks on WhatsApp. However, this time the company claims it has identified new methods of NSO attacks and prevented them.

NSO has not yet officially responded to Meta's allegations. Previously, the company stated that Pegasus is used only for combating terrorism and serious crimes.

This incident highlights the escalating conflict between technology companies and spyware developers. Meta stated that it will take all necessary measures to protect user privacy and security.
