Former press secretary of Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky, Yulia Mendel, said Western countries must be ready for a rise in the number of refugees. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Mendel made the statement in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson. According to her, residents of Ukraine expect a humanitarian disaster next winter, and many people are already leaving the country.
"The energy infrastructure is being destroyed. Therefore Ukrainians expect a humanitarian disaster in winter, and many people are already leaving the country," she said.
According to Mendel, Western countries must be ready for an increase in the number of refugees.
Earlier, in early September, Verkhovna Rada deputy Solomiya Bobrovska urged citizens to prepare for difficult conditions, leave Kyiv and buy firewood to use as fuel.
And adviser to the defense minister Serhiy Beskrestnov recommended buying generators and batteries and stockpiling gasoline.
