JSC 'National Information Technologies' has explained why Kazakhstan's state websites were temporarily unavailable. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the company's statement to Sputnik Kazakhstan, the information systems of state bodies, including the eGov.kz state portal, have been and are operating in normal mode.

However, according to the company, when the activity of external Internet traffic increased, mechanisms for protecting Kazakhstan's Internet space were activated. As a result, some state websites on the Internet were briefly unavailable.

"The protection mechanisms responded in a timely manner to external activity and ensured the security of the national digital infrastructure," the statement said.

Currently, traffic has been restored. All systems and infrastructure of JSC 'NIT' are operating in normal mode. "We do not confirm information about a malfunction," the company noted.

'NIT' is the operator of the information and communication infrastructure of Kazakhstan's e-government.
