Qurultai deputies approved in the first reading a bill providing for amendments to the law on state awards. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the bill, two new titles will be added to the list of state awards:

  • 01the "Shamshi Kaldayakov" medal;
  • 02the honorary title "Honored Artist of Kazakhstan".

The "Shamshi Kaldayakov" medal will be awarded to citizens who have made a significant contribution to the development of domestic musical art and songwriting and have distinguished themselves through special merits.

The honorary title "Honored Artist of Kazakhstan" will be conferred on art figures who have demonstrated high professional skill in the field of fine arts and have made a significant contribution to the development of domestic artistic culture through their best works.

It is worth noting that the Qurultai adopts the bill in three readings.

Earlier, the honorary title "Honored Teacher of Kazakhstan" was added to the list of state awards. Those who receive this title are paid a reward of 1,000 MCI (4,325,000 tenge).

What we know about Shamshi Kaldayakov

Shamshi Kaldayakov is the author of the country's anthem "Mening Qazaqstanym," a composer who gave national spirituality many melodious tunes. He was born on August 15, 1930, in the village of Shaulder in the Otyrar district of the South Kazakhstan region.

He first graduated from a veterinary technical school in Kapllanbek, then from a military school in Sakhalin, and after returning to his homeland, from the musical school named after Hamza Niyazi in Tashkent, and then from the composers' training faculty of the Kurmangazy Conservatory.

Many of Shamshi Kaldayakov's songs have firmly entered the repertoire of singers such as Roza Baglanova, Rishad Abdullin, Bibigul Tulegenova, Rashid Musabayev, and Zeinep Koishybayeva.

Shamshi's place in Kazakh musical art is special; he has about 300 songs. Having left behind a rich musical legacy, Shamshi Kaldayakov died in 1992 in Almaty at the age of 62.

In 1991, a biographical documentary film about Shamshi Kaldayakov titled "Zhyldarym menin, zhyrlarym menin" was made. In the same year, the composer received the title of People's Artist of Kazakhstan.
