MEGA Alma-Ata shopping and entertainment center in Almaty will temporarily close boutiques on the 1st and 2nd floors of block MEGA-1 on July 7 and 8. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The restrictions are due to technical works as part of the renovation of the shopping and entertainment center, according to a post on MEGA Alma-Ata's Instagram page.

On these days, visitors will not be able to access some boutiques located on the first two floors of MEGA-1. Access to the underground parking of this block will also be restricted.

The rest of the shopping and entertainment center will continue to operate as usual. The administration of MEGA Alma-Ata clarified that the restrictions are temporary and related to technical works.

Visitors were asked to take the changes into account in advance when planning their visit. The mall apologized for the temporary inconvenience and thanked guests for their understanding.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that deputies of the Ak Zhol party proposed supporting Kazakh shopping centers due to declining revenues, attendance, and competition from online retail. The party believes that shopping centers can be transformed into multifunctional public spaces with children's, sports, health, and educational zones, and for reconstruction, they proposed tax holidays, affordable lending, and the possibility of temporarily operating under a special tax regime.
