McDonald’s in Germany has found an unusual way to promote its McDelivery service. Billboards were placed so that they would appear in the frame of traffic cameras alongside vehicles of traffic violators. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The idea was developed by agency Scholz & Friends. The campaign took place in Hamburg, which is called the German capital of speed cameras. As a result, drivers received photos along with their fines, showing the McDelivery advertisement next to their car.

The campaign slogan was: "Lost your license? Fortunately, there's McDelivery." Thus, the brand played on the situation where a driver temporarily cannot use a car and visit McDrive.

According to the agency, one of the fine recipients posted the photo on Reddit, after which the image went viral, garnering over 420,000 views in just one day. The campaign also won a gold MAX Award 2026 and a bronze "Lion" at the Cannes Lions festival.

Earlier, Kursiv Avto reported on the controversial Toyota GR Yaris ad that was banned from Australian television.

The campaign's success is attributed to its creative approach and viral effect on social media. McDonald's plans to use this method in other countries as well.
