In the Beimbet Mailin district of the Kostanay region, a man was sentenced to one year and nine months in prison for drunk driving. He had previously been deprived of his driver's license for seven years, the regional prosecutor's office reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The man again got behind the wheel of a Nissan Patrol while intoxicated. He was driving along the Kostanay — Karabutak highway near the village of Valeryanovka toward Lisakovsk.
His actions were classified under Part 1 of Article 346 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan — driving a vehicle while intoxicated by a person deprived of the right to drive.
"The court found the driver guilty and sentenced him to 1 year and 9 months of imprisonment, to be served in a minimum-security penal institution," the prosecutor's office said.
In addition, the court permanently deprived the man of the right to drive vehicles.
The district prosecutor's office urged drivers to take road safety responsibly, emphasizing that alcohol behind the wheel poses a threat to the life and health of other road users.
