Passengers on the Mangistau–Karaganda train have complained about heat in the carriage due to non-working air conditioners. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Lada.kz.
Passenger complaints
According to the publication, passengers boarded train No. 079 CA on August 9. They claim the trip is taking place in a stuffy carriage due to faulty climate equipment and the technical condition of the train.
"It's hot in the carriage! My husband has a heart condition and is traveling in this carriage to a sanatorium in Karaganda. The conductor said that non-working air conditioners are not within his competence. There are elderly people and children in the carriage," the passengers' appeal, cited by Lada.kz, says.
Response from Passenger Transportation JSC
Passenger Transportation JSC stated that the train does not belong to the national carrier.
"This train belongs to the private carrier Ulytau Express LLP. The activities of private carriers have no relation to Passenger Transportation JSC or to KTZ as a whole," the company's press service reported.
Passenger Transportation JSC recommends in such cases to contact the carrier directly or the Ministry of Transport, which regulates the activities of private companies.
Previous incidents
Earlier, Kursiv reported that amid abnormal heat, train passengers in Kazakhstan complained about non-working air conditioners. KTZ head Talgat Aldybergenov stated that air conditioning systems operate "within their technical capabilities," and due to high temperatures, speed restrictions are introduced on the railway.
