A court in Mangystau region has delivered its first verdict in a case of improper road maintenance that resulted in the deaths of 5 people. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the court verdict, a road service official was found guilty and sentenced to 5 years in prison. The incident occurred in 2025: due to poor road conditions, a traffic accident killed 5 people and injured several others.
This is the first verdict in Kazakhstan for improper road maintenance. During the court hearing, deficiencies in the road service's work were identified. Prosecutors proved that inadequate road maintenance led to the accident.
The verdict has not yet entered into force; the parties have the right to appeal.
