Aktau resident Akmaral Kalzhanova said she took her child to the dentist for a routine check-up but faced a serious problem. According to her, due to the negligence of specialists, her child's jaw was damaged. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The mother of the sick child told Sputnik Kazakhstan about the incident. In February of this year, a teenager who came only for a dental check-up could lose his jaw. The mother is sounding the alarm and seeking justice.
The mother wanted to treat Zhanadel's teeth and also show Nuradil. "They said Nuradil had caries. I just wanted to check. The dentist examined the tooth, gave an anesthetic injection, and treated it. When they brought the child out, they said he would be treated for two weeks, but they didn't put a filling. They said to come back in two weeks," says Akmaral Kalzhanova.
Another doctor received the child
According to the mother, since Nuradil's tooth was a permanent tooth, it needed to be saved. After two weeks, she brought the child again. "We were received by another doctor, Makhabbat Myrzagulova. But she said that there was no record anywhere that my child had been treated two weeks ago. There was no information in the database or the registration log. After a while, she came out and said, 'I put arsenic paste on the child. Come back in three days to remove the paste, and then after two days we will treat the tooth,'" the mother noted.
Arsenic paste was applied twice
Akmaral followed the doctor's instructions and brought the child back after three days. "I entered the office and asked what was happening. The doctor told me, 'You should have rinsed with salt.' After a while, she came out and said, 'I put arsenic paste on the child again.' When I asked why, she said, 'It stays for three days, then we remove it, and after two days we treat it.' The child was in pain and restless at that time," says Akmaral.
"We won't treat until the swelling goes down"
By the appointed day, the child's cheek was swollen and red. During this time, the mother was only told to rinse with salt water. When they came to remove the second arsenic paste, the doctor said, "We won't treat until the swelling goes down, rinse with salt water." No X-ray of the child's jaw was taken.
The child's condition worsened sharply
"My child suffered for a month and a half. The tooth they promised to treat fell out on its own. I went to private clinics, but they refused, referring me to each other," says the mother. Later, a 3D scan was performed on the child. As a result, doctors said the jaw was inflamed and the child needed to be sent to Astana or Almaty.
"The jaw could break at any moment"
"If they couldn't treat the child, why did they take it on? Now my child can't play like before, can't do sports. It could break or collapse at any moment," says the mother. Doctors in Astana performed emergency surgery on the child and stabilized his condition. "I am infinitely grateful to Doctor Yusuf Akhmetovich Gusinov. Since May, he has been keeping my child under daily observation. In Astana, during the operation, due to the damage to the jaw, several teeth had to be extracted," says Akmaral.
Investigation launched into doctors
The family is fighting to prevent the infection from spreading further. A Sputnik Kazakhstan correspondent received a comment from the chief physician of the regional hospital, Galymzhan Bakytzhanov. According to him, the initial treatment was carried out correctly, but later the child did not come for appointments. "The treating doctors prescribed further treatment, but the patient did not return. On May 14, the child was seen. He said the tooth fell out in April. The child was urgently sent to the National Scientific Medical Center in Astana."
