The Center for Combating Disinformation has refuted information circulating on social media about the death of another soldier in the tragic incident in the Caspian Sea. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
On September 24, during naval exercises, 17 servicemen drowned. As a result, 14 military personnel died and three survived.
The Center for Combating Disinformation identified an attempt on Facebook to mislead the public with information about the death of another serviceman in the Mangystau region.
According to information provided to the Center by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard, the Border Service and the Ministry of Defense, the information about the soldier's death was not confirmed, the Center reported.
The Center also urged social media users not to trust information published without reference to an official source.
"The dissemination of false information may entail legal consequences in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the Center warns.
Meta (social networks Facebook and Instagram) is recognized as extremist in Russia.
