A gas leak from an abandoned well has been detected in the Karakiya district of the Mangystau region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
On June 29, the Mangystau Regional Environmental Protection Prosecutor's Office received a report about gas leaking from an abandoned well. Local ecologists visited the site, collected air samples, and recorded that the concentration of pollutants exceeded the maximum permissible limit.
"Laboratory tests showed that the level of pollutants exceeds the maximum permissible concentration," the ecologists said.
According to specialists, the Mangystau Regional Emergency Department and other authorized state bodies have been notified about the incident.
